6ft rat snake

I was driving down the road today and I saw something up ahead. I'm always looking for snakes while I'm driving, but I didn't think this could be a snake because it was so big. Right as I passed it I saw that it was a yellow rat snake. Since it was curled up I knew that it had to have been dead. I couldn't resist and I turned around and went back to check to see if it was alive.

As I drove up I saw it moving, so I parked, jumped out so I could get it off the road. As I walked up to it, it moved again but then did what most rat snakes do, it froze. Since it was a busy highway I had to get it off the road fast. I grabbed it and moved it to the grass beside the road. It still was froze and not moving. I soon realized that it was injured even though I did see any. I noticed that it had a speck of blood in it's mouth. I went to a nearby farm and asked for a box to put him in. I brought him home and by the time I got him home he was dead. Here are some of the pics I took.





He was 5'7.

Dang, that's huge!!! Oh well....

I walked up on one a those a few weeks ago out Geocaching with the family and almost scarred the well you know what I mean out of me. If I can see them were ok, it's the ones I don't see and almost step on that I have such and issue with.

I didn't know that you Geocache. Are you going to Geowoodstock in two weeks?

No I'm not going to make GW5 due to prior plans to be in Tennessee that weekend, but I bet you know what I'll be doing while there. Already got a bunch loaded in my GPSr. It's one hobby we have a blast doing. You going?

That is/was a really long snake. That's sad it was killed.

Yes I'm going to GW5. You should come down to this area, there are alot of geocaches and I can give you a cp tour. I'm not that far from you.
