I ordered a couple of VFTs and D. filiformis from Andy. VFTs were much larger than expected and all plants were very healthy. I had also ordered some plants for the big auction site. For the record, Andy's are far superior.

I ordered a couple of flytraps from Andrew back in February. The transaction went great. Prompt communication, great pricing, and good quality. He shipped right away and was very courteous.
The plants have already started to wake up too!

Thanks again! :)

I just received my order from Andrew today and was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the plants. They arrived very quickly with little if any damage. I can't wait until my all red capensis starts dewing again because it was dripping with mucilage when I took it from the package. Also the Nepenthes sanguinea was in very good condition for it being the end of winter. I have ordered carnivorous plants from two other online vendors, one offering good plants that were somewhat over priced and the other offering cheaper plants of poor quality and size. My recent order from FlyTrapShop.com combined the best of both those other sites, providing me with large high quality plants at cheap prices, while leaving out any of their negative attributes. I will definitely be ordering from Andrew again and I suggest to anyone who's thinking of buying carnivorous plants online to check out Andrew's site because they won't be dissapointed.

I forgot to tell everyone how pleased I was (am) with the plants I received from Andrew. Three red dragon VFT's and a D. 'Florida Giant'. These four plants were BIG! Much larger than you would get from other online vendors. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a321/fryster/icons/thumbs_up.gif

Here's a pic of them soaking their feet in a weak mixture of SuperThrive and MegaGro before potting up.

Thanks alot Andrew for the plants I planted the Pitcher plant with no problems and I potted the D.capensis that you gave for free thanks alot both are looking very good hopfully in a few days the sundew will open some new leaves so I can see the dew.. =)

The N.Sanguinea orange is amazing looking came in fine two pitchers one is forming and one is complete hopefully they'll stay for a bit also only problem I guess the mail carrier was a little rough with them and the very top growing point came off there's about 1CM of it still on the plant it it looked like it dried up ok on the tip of it so will this be a problem or will it recover?

Right now it's in a south window where I keep my other nepenthes which is doing good the humidity right now is 45% usually it's around 36 or 38% during the day and 39% or 48% at night and the Temperature is at 71F right now and usually during the day it's 69F to 70F during cloady days and 70F to 75F on nice sunny days will this be ok or should the humidity be more higher to help with the recovery?

The leaves on the nep looks very nice and green so I'm hoping with a few weeks of care it'll come back good also with the purple pitcher venosa should I add some distilled water to it since it's empty or just wait for it to rain?

Thanks again for the plants I'll post some pictures up when the battery on it is done charging so hopefully it'll help.

Hello, on the Nep you mean one of the pitchers that are forming on a new leaf was broke off? or the whole top of the plant?? I guess a picture will show... Those conditions are not too far off from my g/h. (I'm probably more humid.. but not by a whole lot) I would think it will take to that place fine without much setback. I've never added any liquid to my plants upon arrival- but some people do. So, that's your call.

Take care :)
Andrew

Right now it's taking for every to upload the pictures on photobucket and on the manage attachments I have dail-up so it takes forever sometimes.

It's not a leaf or pitcher that broke it's the very top where the leaves form which the top part will form a leaf and a tendril as it grows, but I didn't really know what's it called.

With the purple pitcher I'll leave it be, I watered where I pot it to get the media to settle in good and it looks like it might rain tomorrow so nature will help me out.

Luckily phissionkorps has made this thread

http://terraforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=868160#post868160 N. Hamakua (N.

Look at the thorelii x (maxima x veitchii) X campanulata):

That's what happened with the N.sanguinea abount 1CM or more of the bottom growth point remains.

It kinda bums me out, but the pitchers on it are nice I hope it can grow somehow I don't know much on Nepenthes yet, but my N.gentle have been happy starting to form a pitcher slowly now that the sun is comming out more.

Besides this I'm very happy with my plants, the purole pitcher looks good so far, the sundews are nice, and the nepenthes pitchers are very nice so hopefully in a couple weeks it'll show signs of improving if it's still green that'll be a good sign.

I'll try to posts pictures of it when the internet works with me. =\

adnedarn
04-09-2008, 08:14 PM
Sounds like just the leaf that was forming out of the top of the plant.. so basically a pitcher won't form on that leaf.. but should continue growing just fine from there I would think.

All arrived with no damage(nifty triangle box btw!), kudos on the packaging & quality and im extremely happy, thanks Andrew!

It's been almost two weeks since I received my plants the Purple pitcher venosa is doing well catching a few flys and beetles, the drosera capensis is growing nicely, and the N.Sanguinea is doing wonderful the pitcher that was forming opened it's lid a few days ago and is colored up nicely and the tip where it broke off looks like there's some growth I'm very happy with the order I got great price and good quality plants.

I hope to order another N.sanguinea and some flytraps later on.

I sent in an order last week- it arrived today. Large plants, really good packing (the delivery man left it upside down- I opened it when I came home from work and not a plant was damaged), but I certainly expected someone from the company to drive here and plant them for me. I guess you can't have everything.
As a side question, are you going to restock some of your sold out items in the future?

I'll chime in again. I've ordered from Andrew twice and both times I received some of the healthiest plants (no I am not just saying this) I have ever received. The D. filiformis 'Florida Giant' is up to about 12 inches now and is starting to take over my growrack!

Random question, but can you grow Sarracenia minor under 6 40 watt growlights? So far all of these other plants that people say need to be in full sun are absolutely thriving, including my B52 cultivar.

WOW! I was looking around Flytrapshop to see what it has. Even though it doesn't really have as many plants as the vendor I always buy from (except in sarracenias :D), I am going to switch to Flytrapshop now because their full grown Sarrs are about $18, while Andy's are usually full grown are $8-$9 (Besides S. minor, but they don't even have minor)! Your soil is cheaper, too! I definitely support Flytrapshop! Can't wait till you add more plants!

I just picked up my plants this morning and I was really happy to see what great shape they were in after going though the mail. These were my first plants I'd ever bought that were professionaly grown and not intended to be noveltys.

There were also a couple extra sundews along for the ride in the ziplock containing the ping. :)

Hopefuly I have given them good new home, I'll take some pics in a couple days when they have settled and perked up some.

Received them today! You sure do pack well! The Dana's Delight has such an excellent color! I also found that the other Sarracenia came with a little D. burmanii. The 'Akai Ryu' I received is a lot bigger than I thought I was going to O_o. I also put them into my mini bog :). Thank you so much :D!

Edit: I also learned a very valuable lesson. Never let your Sarrs have no water in their trays (to me anyways)! Well, I just found that after adding water and after rain, I was able to pick up the pitcher and it stayed instead of the top quarter being floppy. And as for the other that was flopped in half perked up and seemed like nothing ever happened to it.

Andy has always sent me high quality plants and occasionally a couple more than I actually ordered.

Ask Andrew about the Nepenthes ampullaria that he has sitting around. He is looking to find it a home.

Placed an order a few weeks ago. I've had the plants for a while, just thought I would show some pics! They were everything I had hoped for them to be.

Double potted Typical/Red Dragon VFT. The Red Dragon had trouble but its growing now.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b57/Dexing/027.jpg

Typical D. capensis. Came with a full flower stalk, which sadly, has since died, but the plant itself never skipped a beat and is looking great, putting out tons of dew.

N. ventricosa. Lost a few pitchers from shipping shock, not a big deal at all, has since kept up the growth, no new pitchers yet, but a few great ones have opened up that were already on the plant.

You'll notice I pretty much got the basics of CP growing. Thats because I have had each of these plants in the past before, and killed all of them when I was younger, so I thought now that I have put on a few years and gotten more serious about my hobby, I'd go back and get the building blocks of carnivorous plants. And there's nobody I would have rather ordered them from then www.Flytrapshop.com! Good prices, good time, nice packing, shipping, and big healthy plants.

Thanks again, and enjoy.

Thanks for the update, always great to see them!! Obviously this entitles you to the thank you membership =-) so I'll get you set up. Also, is that a baby flytrap in the capensis pot? Funny that it caught my eye cause I kinda remember doing that- but not really on a order that went out with a Nepenthes...
Andrew

OH! And fix I'll fix the url in the last line of your post- since I assume you meant it to be FlyTrapShop.com ;)

It is a little flytrap indeed! That was a nice little addition, thanks. I remember thinking that it was so small and that my conditions were pretty meager I didn't expect it to live, but low and behold it is growing strong. :D

About a week ago, I placed an order for a Sarracenia x 'Hummer's Hammerhead' after hearing such great reports about his Sarracenia. It came today, and I was surprised to see how large and clean the plant division was. He included a couple of D. burmannii's, which I am truly grateful to have back in my collection.

It was a wonderful and quick transaction. Do I smell a repeat customer? ;)

That was you? LOL I thought the name seemed familiar but couldn't place it. The plant doesn't have a flower, and doesn't look great. The pitchers on it are from spring (early Feb.) and it just now has a pitcher coming up for fall growth, so really- perfect timing on the purchase I'd say. ;) If it is going to flower, I think it would be soon.

UPDATE!

The Sarracenia took a little dive (my fault, the CA sun is terribly hard on the plants), but it's sending out some late season pitchers with that fantastic color:

My Ventrata is still adjusting to my lamp. However, it's starting to grow again and new pitchers are starting to inflate. I'll take some pictures when the first pitcher opens.

I got my second order from Andy today, 10 2.5" pots. You can bet I was potting up plants all day after school. :)

On another note, that Sarr has been dividing like mad. I last counted 4 growth points, but I may have missed a few.
