Paid a visit to the greenhouse this afternoon, to check on the young Sarracenia I get to keep in there over winter, after experiencing a little taste of winter to put them to sleep. Here are some pics:
Some seeds I got off Ebay just starting to germinate: S. oreophila x "Toadmaster"
some more seeds, just starting to germinate: S. "Medusa" x flava
Here is a seed-grown Sarracenia, flowering 3 years and 1 month after it germinated. It is an open-pollinated S. oreophila x 'willisii'.
Here is a 1-year-old S. purpurea seedling, from wild-collected seed near Drummond, WI, waking up from its first dormancy.
Another 1-year-old seedling, waking up. Don't know which one this is. This is one that pretty much looked dead when I moved it into the greenhouse, but after a few weeks, new growth sprouts from the dead-looking plant.
Here's another that, 3 weeks ago, many people probably would've tossed it. It looked completely dead. It is a 1-year-old rubra gulfensis "red" x open-pollinated.
Another 1-year-old seedling. S. leucophylla x willisii. Already, the first pitcher is nearly twice as tall as last year's pitchers.
A break from the Sarracenia. This is Nepenthes gracilis x bicalcarata. The thing was nearly dead about a year ago, but has rebounded nicely. The WI-native cranberries sure like the conditions.

N. copelandii. I noticed some Drosera binata are starting to invade this pot.

An unknown purpurea hybrid waking up, along with Drosera filiformis, as well as the pesky white violets that I can't get rid of, no matter how hard I try.
