My n. ventricosa has basal shoots!?

Pulled my N. ventricosa's out of the terrarium for a spring cleaning and to feed 'em a cricket.  Haven't pulled them out since I put them in there last year.  Anyway, discovered 2 little shoots on two of them I got last summer.  I wasn't expecting them to send up shoots 'till next year or the year after !
Now I gotta take some more pics ppls.

My ventricosa cuttings generally send up basal shoots after a few months. If the cutting wasn't the terminal but the mainstem dies back and a basal shoot becomes dominant, but even then there's still basal shoots coming up.

I cut mine back and two basal shoots form.

your tellin me , my n. gracilis I recieved from pft 2 months ago has about 3 basal shoots .
