Hey all, just how big can N.Spathulata's pitchers get? In D'Amato book it says "The giant lower traps of N.Spathulata." It just isn't a clear description of size in his book. He should have said HOW big they just were! Or at least the pot size so then we could have an idea of just how big the entire plant is. Thank-you!

According to the botanical description in Clarke's book Nepenthes of Sumatra:
Leaves less than or equal to 30cm.
Lower pitchers less than or equal to 30cm tall
Upper pitchers less than or equal to 15cm tall
So a large healthy spathulata could be 60cm in diameter or about 24 inches.

Wow! Yet another monstorous Nepenthes! http://www.**********.com/iBhtml/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Thanks Tony, now I will decide whether I have enough room to get it or not. Would it grow well with N.Rajah,Lowii, other Ultrahighlands because the Ultrahihgland tank is the only one open for rent right now. http://www.**********.com/iBhtml/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Thanks!

The altitude range is listed as 1100 -2900 meters. So sounds like it is pretty tolerant to varying temperatures in nature.

why the crap do all these plants get so big! I realize I'll be able to fit about 3 plants in my terrarium once they're all mature. I have about 8. Criminy...
BTW: Who sells Spathulata? The terrarium pitcher in D'amato's book is rather appealing. Do you sell any Tony?

It is a very pretty pitcher ;>
In most cases your looking at Years before you will see large full sized plants.
Even the truncata which can hit 4 feet across while a pretty fast grower will take multiple years (to answer your question on the other thread)
You can go to my website by hitting the www thingy at the top of my post. The online order section is a list of currently available items while the catalog section is a list of plants growing with a rough expectation for availability when known. (yes spathulata is available)

So Spathulata is a good candidate for a nieghbor for Rajah. Good so know I know that! http://www.**********.com/iBhtml/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I want one after my greenhouse is going to be up.
You could also put spathulata on your windowsill. I hear it does quite well, and I'm a fan of windowsill growing myself.
