Hey everyone I am sure you remember the soo many qustions from me on this Pitcher Plants seeds. Anyway I saw a small greenhouse type set for clearance sale of &#365.00!!! Nice thing,about 2 feet long by 5 inches high. It comes with 72 peat moss pellets. And my Purpurea Purpurea seeds were due for planting and I said a greenhouse and peat pellets for &#365.00!! Well I bought it added water and planted my seeds on the peat. My question is will these seeds germinate OK on Peat Moss alone? Since I see them in my area growing only in spahgnum moss I am not sure about the germination of them and I know someone on here would. I also have ALOT of seeds left over. Thanks for all of your help!!!! Nep.G.
 
NG< they should be just fine... as long as it was really just peat moss and not treated with anything... most of the stuff I see like that is for tomoatoes...
 
No i assure you it is peat. The package said so and it looks like it and even smells like it. Tastes like it to!

Sarracenia seedlings are very cute... :cheesy:

Peat should be perfect. Because the seedlings'll be rather delicate, grow them in pure peat for a few years to be on the safe side, and then pot them in a more coarse mix. You stratified them, right?

mmm...peat sandwiches!

Yes I stratisfied them for 4 weeks and 2 days. I think this is long enough for Purpurea Prpurea isn't it? Mmmm those peat sandwhiches sound great! When will you be making them? I'll bring some tea made from peat! Peat tea anyone?
 
Yes that's long enough.
I think I'll call 'em BLPs(bacon, lettuce, and peat), and I'm sure they'd go great with peat tea. To assure top quality, only Canadian or New Zealand sphagnum should be used. I made a whole pile of BLPs today and my family and friends had a lovely time chowing down on my "all natural, terrestrial sandwiches!" :cheesy:

Well I am glad that was long enough I didn't want a ton of seeds to go to waste! I still have some left over in the fridge getting an extended peroid of statification. Man stop talking about those BLP'S you are making me so hungry! All right I am going to take frozen Purpurea water and make a pitcher plant smoothy. Mmmm..... frozen insects and debris. Ahh.. now I have statisfied my hunger. :cheesy: :biggrin:

I am eating a cup of Jello right now and just looked down at it and set it down for now. Uhhh.....OK I think I am OK now. How about a fresh loaf of bread glazed with butterwort and N.Rajah juice that had a rat in it!!!
 
I had Chinese food on New Year's Eve and the fortune cookie said I have a keen sense of humor...I don't know about that. How about some rice cooked in a N. rajah pitcher that used to have a rat in it? I think people have actually done that.
Notice how no one else is joining in our little chat? I can see why.

Happy New Year! Yes I do notice no one is joining. I wonder why also. :cheesy: How about a person eating a mushy rotten smelly pitcher water drenched rat that had be sitting in the sun for 4 days! :cheesy: :biggrin:
 
I think the pitcher gives the rice a tasty, unique flavor. I'd love to try that!
But I think you can only drink the fluid of an unopened pitcher, because it's sterile and free of mushy rats(yuck NG!). It seems to have the same effect as aloe vera on small cuts and burns--yes I do use my N. x Coccinea for this purpose. The fluid is drank to treat arthritis I think? And poured onto the head? This is from memory.
