Genlisea aurea

NickHubbell

It’s a trap!
I received some Genlisea aurea seed today. Anyone else growing this species and does anyone have any tips on germination?

I was thinking about a layer of peat/perlite with a top dressing of finely chopped sphagnum moss as the planting medium. The pots would then be placed into a plastic bag for germination.

Thanks

I'm not sure whether you are talking about live or dead moss. Be careful about using live moss as the seedlings will probably be small and slow growing.

I would recommend planting them on a regular peat/sand medium and giving them a daily misting of water. This has worked for some utrics I have grown from seed.
