Banana tree's

i have been growing a banana plant for years. got it as a baby and there is four adult plants and about small plants. now in the past year the adult plants nevr get any taller just a fatter trunk and more shots. now is this because i need to weed out all the shots?

Im' not a bananna expert, but if you don't want any of your shutes I ll take one.
