I just finished Pete Hamill's novel SNOW IN AUGUST and it is one of the best novels I have ever read -- real, moving, imaginative, inspiring, funny, deep and a page turner. I would recommend it to anyone young or old who loves to read or to anyone who likes Brooklyn in the late 1940's, Jackie Robinson, the Irish, Judaism, the Kabbalah, Frankenstein, old movies, priests, Yiddish, magic, mysticism and baseball.
