How to make a desert terrarium

I have a glass house that is 11 1/2 inches in length, 7 3/4 in width, and 11 1/5 inches in height and I was wondering if this can be used to make a desert terrarium with sand, gravel, and cactus and other desert plants. How would I fix a light for it? Is this even a plausable idea?

I think you'll get more responses here. I would think a desert terrarium would be possible using a combination of natural and artificial light.
