Picked up some firebelly newts.

Yea, I just bought a pair of japenese fire belly newts last week, and I am pretty interested whethere I got 2 males, 2 females, or 1 male and 1 female. Does anyone know how you determine this? I do know I have one fat one, that likes to eat everything, and one normal sized long one, that only eats a little.

I have heard that you can tell by looking at the base of the tail (wheere they go poo). If there are 2 noticable "bumps" on each side, it is most likely male.

I am really not that sure, sorry. If they are sexed like snakes, the male will have a longer tail, if sexed like lizards, the two bumps where the hemipenes should give it away as male. Try searching on kingsnake.com
