Scorpion question

Hi

I bought my first 2 Scorpions and they are Emperor Scorpions (P.imperator).

I have a 5 gal tank and I was wondering if I need a bigger tank? The Emps are pretty big about 6 inches or bigger.

Also how many inches of substate should I use?

as these scorpions do get pretty large (one of the larger non-dangerous species), a space of 5 gallon each should be appropriate. As males and males may fight, offer lots of hide areas in the form of bark, rocks, etc.

he recommends 10 gallon for a single adult...5-6 inches of dark rich soil...

I'm not saying this is the minimum...but this a cozy set up that I'm sure your scorps will enjoy...

For two large adult emperors, you need a 15 gallon. Substrate don't have to be too deep, maybe 2 inches or so. That way they can dig and burrow. Make sure to provide lots of hiding places. Although they can be kept together, they don't enjoy bumping into each other every few minutes. The more space the better.

there is alot of mixed info as far as the size of the tank I seen one that suggested 5 in a 10 gallon was fine. that seems awfully cramped and if you ask me stressful for the animals which in the long term would shorten thier life span.

Ive had one before they are deffinately cool pets you deffinately gotta check them out under a black light . when they get bigger they can eat mouse pinkies and even anoles. Although the anoles were an unfortunate accident. I had them in a tank figuring they would be way too fast for the scorpions to catch plus I had alot of plantlife and sticks in the tank (It was a huge octagon tank) but they aparently are pretty smart, they would go underneath where the anoles would be resting on the plants pinch the tails of the anoles that were dangling down, and basically pincher over pincher reel them in and eat them.
