Went on a hike yesterday,

Hello,
I went hiking yesterday, and in a small area under a large oak tree, I saw a little grove of ferns! I was thinking of digging one up, but i have no idea how to care for them! Any suggestions? http://www.petflytrap.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/alien.gif

I dug up a fern from around my place last summer and it did fine in simple houseplant conditions. I used the soil it originally grew in. It didn't seem to care about humidity or anything. most ferns enjoy constantly damp, but not wet soil.

You mentioned you found them under a tree. They also enjoy shady conditions.
