What's the best time to transplant?

I want to transplant my vft so that it makes some offshoots, because I'm new to CPs and I don't want to risk it dying in order to flower. Right now it has a tiny stalk, and I'm going to cut it off in a few days. Is it ok to transplant my vft now, or should I wait until next season?

The safest time to transplant any plant is when or if it is dormant; that is, when it isn't growing or noticing the transplant.

Late winter or early springs is the best time of the year. Wait untill dormancy is almost over when you transplant. Transplanting during dormancy will disrupt its resting period.
