From my long absence with PC difficulties, the ole gal is back up and running, feeling much better, but slow as molasses. Anywho, here ya go.

Ohhh that`ll be good,not enough hamata crosses out there so good for you for crossing,I hope the seedlings do well for you. Btw. Great pics! Those teeth look realy mean.

please, please, PLEASE cross with my male campanulata! you can keep 50 percent of the seed. a N. x rokko X campanulata cross is better than my pollen going to waste!
 
It's pity there wasn't a female hamata in flower at the same time, species seed is so much more valuable than hybrid stuff. There should be some aristolochioides seed floating around as I know several people with both male and female plants that have been flowering.

If anyone has a female of that species soon to bloom, please
let me know. My male is getting ready to bloom (for the third
time in two years)!

BTW, your plants look very nice, Dustin. Thanks for sharing
them with us. I am especially pleased to see that the N. maxima
and N. villosa are doing well for you. Is the N. villosa the one
I sent you?

JLAP, I may be able to do that to a few flowers. I have been collecting hamata pollen daily on a piece of clear plastic and smearing the female spike in it to ensure good pollination. A few have yet to open and should accept some pollen from another doner. (Its interesting to have multiple crosses going on 1 spike!

Jeff, glad to hear that on your N. aristolochioides. I think mine may need to be repotted as it doesn't pitcher well...I believe it is something in the TC material that may have genetic defectrs in it (Tony lead me to also think this). It may just need a new pot though. The N. maxima is an absolute winderful clone and I am truely pleased to be priveleged to have it! The N. villosa is surprising me actually, it is not too difficult to grow, has increased in size quite rapidly and looks totally different, now that it is growing larger and more mature. Tony's looks identical to mine except his has larger pitchers!

How is your brute doing? Last I saw it, it was a marvelous pitcher adorned with many teeth on the peristome.

My guess is that your N. aristolochioides is probably not receiving
the kind of overnight cooling it needs. I've found that that species
typically likes temperatures lower than 10 C at night.
 
That could be it too. Yet N. villosa does fine next to it. The lows at night average out around 48F at night so close to the nocturnal requirements.

Yes, but keep in mind that your N. villosa is still small, and
therefore less demanding of cool nights than it likely will be
as it matures.
 
Ah I see. I was thinking of having a small exhaust fan (around 8 inches in diameter or so) and pull cool air in from the outside in the hot months, or in thw winter pull cold air in over the plants with a thermometer deal to switch on and off the fan.
