These are aquarium thermometers. When I remove the suction cup rubber housing that can attach them to the inside of fish tanks so they stay put and don't float away, I can stick them into the soil of seed I am germinating to make sure the temps are not too hot and not too cold. They are $1.17 at WalMart and they really work.
