P. Titan in bloom

Well I had to post a picture of my first P. Titan flower. I've had this guy for awhile now and it was well worth the wait! Hope you enjoy.

Are you sure they are mature enough? I couldn't get my 'Titan' to flower either but it has been steadily growing. I think the issue was it simply was not yet a mature specimen. I'll have to transplant it for next growing season

Baylorguy: Although I grow a whole bunch of Nepenthes, my knowledge of Pings is limited, and was curious to know, when you repot yours and what you consider the growing season to be. My girlfriend also has some P. Titan which are all getting larger, but crammed together in the small 3 inch pot in which came. What kind of mix do you suggest, and when do you repot? Looks like you've had some success with this guy.

I am by no means a ping expert and there are many on here more qualified to answer your questions, but I can tell you what works for me.

P 'Titan' is a bit tempermental in that it can slide into its succulent phase at any time. The one in the picture has only been out of its succulent phase for about 1 month, and it was also in its succulent phase about 4 months before that!

I have found that a pure aquatic plant soil mix (which many on here swear by) does NOT work for me in my conditions. Unless I have some peat mixed in, my butterworts expire. So, I use 1 part peat, 2 parts perlite, 2 parts vermiculte, 1 part Aquatic Plant Soil. This mix has given me the best success.

Humidity is anywhere from 50% - 90% with daytime temperatures hovering around 80 (T5s are hot) and lows around 74.

As far as transplanting it, I use a very simple rule... when it fills up the pot, time to transplant. If the plant starts feeling limitations, it may not grow as big for you. I will be going to a 4.5 inch pot for the next growing season.

Lastly, make sure you feed the pings. I can't stress this enough. On a weekly basis I dust the leaves with crushed freezed dried bloodworms and spritz (thanks to Joseph Clemens for this!!!) the leaves with a diluted fertilizer solution of 20-20-20.

Works for me.
