I am confused on which Pings are to go into dormancy.
I see recent pics from others of the same thing I now have in low light/low water condition.
Is it only the Mexican Pings that need the time off?
Thanks for helping the ignorant.
The temperate Pinguicula like P. lutea, P. vulgaris, and P. macroceros form winter hibernacula. They pretty much need dormancy periods for long term growth
Most Mexican Pinguicula are heterophyllous meaning they have two seaonal leaf forms. They are not dormant during the fall/winter "succulent" non-carnivorous leaf phase as they are still growing and often times flower during this phase. If you don't give them seasonal cues they'll eventually get stuck in the non-carnivorous leaf phase and waste away.
