P. colimensis - succulent phase

The summer leaves of this P. colimensis once spanned the width of this 4" pot,

but it has now abruptly shrunk back to these succulent leaves.

Hey, I know this is an old thread but what is the exact potting mix you are growing this in?

  • #14
Hi Nitwig,

This is an all mineral mix, but I am experimenting with adding more organic material into some of my media mixes.

Hi, thanks for you answer. By all mineral are you referring to perlite, vermiculite, turface? The reason I'm asking is that I just ordered ten unidentified mexican pings from Ebay and I want to make sure I have success like yours. I am also following up on question that someone asked recently on p. colimensis and the soil it requires. Maybe you could chime in on that thread right below this one. Any help you could give us would be much appreciated. It is obvious that whatever you're doing is making your plant happy!

Hi nitwig,

My all mineral mix consists of chunky perlite, coarse silica sand, some akadama clay, red lava rock, white pumice and yellow kanuma pumice.

There may be a few items more in there, but it has been a while since that particular media was mixed up.

Basically, i use whatever media materials i have on hand at the time. :)
