    One more for you:

There once was a man named Joe Clemens
    Who fed Pinguicula lemons
He thought he would try it, this citrusy diet
But they weren't too happy, he reckons.

There once was a Nep from Nantucket.
That had a pitcher the size of a bucket
An aphid once tried to suck it
But the owner came along and plucked it.
Some days it just isn't worth chewing thru the restraints.

A newer more carnivorous rendition of a poem I had published in a world renown poetry book.

My love for you is like a rose,
    that only a Sarracenia knows..
And finding carnivorous fields of stars,
my love parts so that it shows my heart..
To all who care to look,
like a nepenthes page, torn from a book..
Now cradled in it's red red bloom,
and given to the one who fed it to thee..
I hope to hear you say,
"I'm growing forever and a day!"
    Or longer, plants get stronger,
with every day that passes away.
This plant holds the key to me,
    my nectar guarded jealously..
Though will swallow you up in trusting not betrayed..

Fury, I really liked the one with the lemons!

I need to try my hand at this!
    --------------------------------------------------------

I once owned a very large dew,
The largest of flies were no match,
It glistened and gleaned in the sunlight,
    And beetles it'd reg'larly snatch.

This dew started out really small,
but these bugs helped it grow really tall,
    on neglect and bad care it would thrive;
sans water it nev'r ceased to strive.

The dew reached max. size in late fall,
was noted most 'silient of all,
then more sunlight it seemed for to pine,
and began a quick, desicive decline.

I mourned for days without end.
I'd lost me my best dewy friend
late wint'r I finally lift'd up my eyes,
    and shouted in utter surprise:

"Me big dewy friend is long gone,
but what here see I in the soil?,
    a hundred--a thousand li'l dewy friends,
Big dew, I thought you were gone...

    żEs invencible tambien?

LOL - nice one SDCPs. I really think you capture the gritty emotional essence of witnessing the phoenix effect first-hand.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!
The deadline to submit poetry is:
    Wednesday, March 23rd @ 11:59pm PST.
I will try to pick a winner on the following Thursday or Friday.
So far I am impressed, and it will be tough to pick a favorite poet.
Even though I cannot win the contest (that would be silly), I wrote another limerick:

    I'm the best Sarracenia;
    number one from Transylvania!
    I caught all the flies,
    and to my surprise,
    I rule at egomania.

Don't remind me it's St Patty's day. LOL. That means a 10 hour shift at work today baby sitting drunks at a bar. I work in the security field, and was volunteered to do ID checks at a local place. Anyway, hope everyone else has a good one!
