Wow, I have never had success like that with lights so far away, Tommy you must have a very green thumb or mine must be black! I guess everyone produces different results under different conditions, and experiments are always worthwhile. My advice is always based on my experience with the plants, but other methods could certainly work. Try some different methods and go with what seems to work best for you: advice is always local and never set in stone. The real advances in CP growing come from those who break the rules!

I am bumping this topic back up. Some of you may wish to read back through Tamlin' posts at his instructions and care tips.

Please remember that he politely asked you to 1) not ask for more gemmae than you have space for and 2) to have your pots ready beforehand so when the gemmae arrive, they don't sit around in a baggie for a couple of weeks until you are ready.

If you don't know what kind of care the pygmies take...get cracking! Research it! Ask other drosera/pygmy growers. (Don't bombard Tamlin with PMs and emails asking what to do....he's VERY busy packing gemmae!)

It is one thing to put some effort into it, try your best to grow something new and fail. But not to make the effort to LEARN how to care for them and not provide the right environment and have them die...to waste these wonderful little green eggs would be a crime.

The more people growing these plants...the more gemmae next fall...the more the plants can get spread out yet again in an ever widening circle.

Thank you for that Plant-a-Kiss. If anyone needs cultural advice, once again, please take the time to read this article:

    http://www.cpzine.com/article.aspx?c...2002&m=10&d=12

If you can't be bothered to take the time to make an honest effort to learn what it takes to grow these species, then please don't ask for them and let someone else have them who will.

The distribution is going well, and the first sendings will be going out tomorrow. Thanks to some very generous Forum members I will be able to send follow up sendings to those who only provided one SASE. When you receive your D. paleacea, please take the time to email me and tell me if you would like another sending if you only placed one SASE with me. If you have a SASE on file, no further action is needed, and the gemmae will follow as they are produced.
