Those are some vibrant colors!
Everything has a reason, whether big or small. Never underestimate the power of what is or is not.
There is far more to everything than meets the eye.
Yes, everything really colors up in the winter.. especially the sphagnum moss.
Great pics, but am I crazy or is that a Mexican Ping of some sort growing in NC?
Beautiful photos, and a great variety of CP. I've been to Croatan half a dozen times or so but I've never been fortunate enough to have found S. rubra (but, then again, I don't live just outside the borders in New Bern .
Growing CP since 1975. Succeeding (more or less) since 1990.

Are those pumila growing in sphagnum? Very cool. I'm still confused by what appears to be a Mexican Ping in the first set of pics.
Wow those are some incredible colors!! Interesting Sp. of sphagnum as well...
In addition to growing plants, I design and build RC planes powered by Tesla batteries. Check out my progress at www.chargedplanes.com
dumb question... how does a specimen of the 'fused tooth' variety happen to just come about in the wild? is that a mutation.... or what?
"Be quiet! The plants will hear y... noooooo!" 'chomp - burp!'
yea its just a chance mutation.

I don't think the plant you think is a mexican Ping is really a Ping. I don't know what it is..
