    Yes, everything really colors up in the winter.. especially the sphagnum moss.

    Beautiful photos, and a great variety of CP. I've been to Croatan half a dozen times or so but I've never been fortunate enough to have found S. rubra (but, then again, I don't live just outside the borders in New Bern .

    Are those pumila growing in sphagnum? Very cool. I'm still confused by what appears to be a Mexican Ping in the first set of pics.

    dumb question... how does a specimen of the 'fused tooth' variety happen to just come about in the wild? is that a mutation.... or what?
