    Sifton Bog in London, Ontario

This past weekend I visited the Sifton Bog in London, Ontario. I want to thank Peatmoss for guiding me there, because it is an AMAZING bog!

    Here are the pictures:

Large Intermedia Population under some brush in the bog:

Purps (They were few, but the ones that were there were SUPER healthy and nicely colored)

Is this some kind of Utricularia? I didn't know any grew up here!

The AMAZING contrasts of Purple and Green Sphagnum (For all of you Sphagnum nuts like me out there!!!

    Cranberry:

    Me walking on the boardwalk:

    Inspecting the Drosera Rotundifolia....

Looking out at the water, so many turtles and some odd little orange fish...

    Looking out at the bog:

Hehehe, glad to see you made it... I've never been myself, but I had heard some good things about it on the Canadian forums...

That looks like a classic Canadian Shield Bog, we have them all over the place, not usually that big though.

Those dews are mad! And the sphagnum is great!

Gorgeous photos Will! Gotta love the red sphagnum, and it doesn't get much better than those intermedia colonies. I look forward to the videos

I need to get some of that red sphag, it would go so wellwith some of my plants! The dews are amazing, and yep, definitely looks like some sort of Utric in the pond there. Could be something along the lines of U. macrorhiza or intermedia, not very sure about the northern species.
Everything has a reason, whether big or small. Never underestimate the power of what is or is not.

Yeah, I saw some sphag that people had pulled out, but then hadn't taken it, just left it there to dry.... I am trying to revive a few nearly dead pieces now(Hoping that they will grow for me!!!)

I saw. They look great! Is there a reason why it's so compacted?
