Jason, those are quite possibly some the worst abbrieviations you'll come across in your young/semi-young life. ALthough there are worse ones, I suppose. But not many.

Yep, this is the old army generation gap!

ROD means run-out date, the same meaning as ORD for the present. Ask your CSM or the RSM. The young officers probably do not know what ROD means either!
