I used to raise them. They were rediscovered by John Endler in 1975 and come from Venezuela. They are said to closely resemble the wild guppy, but I have personally never seen a 'true' wild guppy. They are just as easy to keep as the normal guppy and will actively interbreed with them if kept in the same tank. They are cute little fish.

Here's a picture of some that I used to keep. They were the 'swordtail' variety.
Where do we go when we just don't know,
And how do we relight the flame when it's cold?
Why do we dream when our thoughts mean nothing,
And when will we learn to control?

IIRC Endler's Livebearer are said to be extinct in the wild.

Do not breed guppies to Endler's Livebearer. Keep there strains separate, they are different.

Thanks elgecko. I failed to mention about them being extinct in the wild. I was also very careful to keep them separate from guppies as well. In my opinion, the natural coloring of Endler's is much prettier than an Endler/guppy cross. There seem to be slight variants in 'pure Endler' coloring. I had some that looked quite a bit different than the ones I posted above; they were more red than orange, and displayed a lot more black coloring. They also didn't have the orange in their tails.

I personally don't have Endler's, but I have wanted some for a while now. I like the fact that they are not fancy guppies, with all that fancy coloration and different fin shapes, etc. (please no offense to any fancy guppy enthusiasts). IMO, they are pretty and colorful in their own, natural way. I never see non-fancy guppies (ie wild-type) in the stores around here, just the fancies.

You're not supposed to allow them to breed with other guppies. Many people will call them "guppies with big egos"...but many others say they are distinct from other guppies.

    StifflerMichael,
Feeder guppies = non fancy guppies.
