Sugar Gliders are marsupials (mammals that carry their babies in a pouch) from Australia and New Guinea (sp?) They are a lot like flying squirrels. They have a flap of skin going from the wrist to their ankle, making them able to glide upto 400 ft from the top of a tree.

My male is about the size of a medium rat, he's about 32 grams I think, my female is a bit smaller. I definetly don't let them glide outside. It would be very difficult to catch them. You can get harnesses for them but I refuse to put one of those on my gliders.

To tell you the truth, and don't take it personally, I think gliders are kind of spooy. They big eyes and bony hands are spooky.
