Buffalo Weather at its finest

We just had a major weather event. It snowed and rained like crazy last Thursday & Friday. Snow is normally no big deal for this area. We're used to getting tons of it. It's the circumstances this time that were unusual. What happened was that most of the fall leaves were still on the trees and the temps were in the 30's & 40's. The snow, therefore, was wet and heavy. That led to an incredible amount of weight on the trees and many limbs / branches snapped, causing widespread power lines to go down. Many people lost their electricity and municipalities weren't able to pump water. So water supply was also critical. We were told that we had to boil the water. Gas stations were could pump gas. Downed power lines and strewn tree parts were everywhere. There were driving bans in all of the towns. Many businesses were closed, including all the school. About all that was open were Home Depot, Lowes, and the like. Generators, chain saws, batteries, flashlights, water, and extension cords were being sold like hotcakes. Home Depot itself was running on generators. One guy had a tree limb fall on him. Another had a heart attack from trying to clean up. Elderly were shut in.It has been a full week since and there are still 300,000 without electricity. Power companies from Canada, Eastern NY, and PA were called in to restore power.

Jest another example that, Mother Nature is not happy what we are doing to her earth.
