No next gen for me, not until 1) price drops to $300, and 2) there's a decent mod chip for it.

My PS2 is in it's prime, still got plenty of life left in it. Great games continue to come out for it. Man, when is God of War 2 coming out!

Never liked the Final Fantasy games, I think them characters are way too emo I did enjoy Kingdom Hearts 2, minus the emo.

I never had a Jaguar, but it always seemed cool to me. I remember though I was one of the first people who had a Playstation (the original). I came to school after Christmas break saying that I had gotten a Playstation and...get this...all my friends responded with:

    "What's a Playstation?"

Times have definitely changed, haven't they?

Quogue has a point - Sony's time has already begun to fade in Japan. Nobody cares about consoles over there; it's almost all handheld gaming, and has been since the beginning of the decade. Nintendo is definitely dominating the Japanese handheld market, and there are a lot of indications that the Wii might take the remaining console market as well. Phissionkorps, I can understand where you might've got the impression that Nintendo has been lacking in games, but if you ask me, that's all spin. Nintendo has been recovering from a small domestic market share since the Sega Genesis, and it shouldn't be a surprise that they get less developers. The GameCube was unfortunately typecast early in it's lifetime, but it still had a lot of exclusive games like Resident Evil 4 that went on to be so popular that the publishers broke the exclusivity contract (I don't know the particulars but usually this type of agreement is very expensive to break) and brought them to other consoles because of overwhelming player demand.
I've been hearing everybody say how great the PS2 and XBox are, but honestly, I see only as many interesting, compelling games come out on those consoles as the GameCube - despite the fact that there are far more games coming out for the former consoles than the latter.
When it comes down to it, hardware doesn't matter. They're all computers; they can all run this software with the proper porting. What concerns me about a console is the games I can play on it. I couldn't care less that the XBox 360 renders 13 zillion polygons per second - crisp models don't make WW2-torn Europe look any less ugly. Maybe, if the idea of the game was to render photorealistic images of flowers, this would be important. But in my experience the focus on numerical superiority in graphics algorithms and architecture usually has a very negative effect on gameplay value. I think the most graphically sophisticated game I've seen on modern consoles is Katamari Damacy. Sure, the modeling is simple and the textures are simple. But the art is magnificent, it runs at a flawless framerate, and the truly massive amount of models they manage to cram on screen lends an amount of perspective that has rarely been seen in 3D games. I even prefer the graphics of old games like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and Yoshi's Island to many modern games, because they have a theme and cohesion that most games today can't even hope to touch.

I agree with Joe on the point that in my opinion, Nintendo does push the envelope a little more in terms of games. Nintendo typically creates more original and fun games while Sony and Microsoft usually both produce the same games with a couple of exceptions (i.e. the original Halo).

I think Nintendo has made some nice moves in creating their next-gen system and will be anxious to see how they do in the upcoming months since they are so radically different then the competition; both of which are just big bad machines with lots of horsepower and the same games.

For me, it's like the difference in driving a Ferrari and a Lamborghini - they both are totally sweet, high-caliber cars with loyal fans and I can imagine myself in either one even though I've never owned anything better than a Ford Escort. Then I imagine getting on a motorcycle and imagine the totally different type of ride of which I have experienced anything like it, although I have traveled the same roads many times.

Me and my girlfriend camped outside Best Buy for 36 hours for the Wii. Both nights temps were under 36. I got a Wii, and extra controller, extra nunchuk, Zelda, Rayman, Monkey Ball, and Trauma Center. It was soooo worth it, I have been playing it nonstop. I highly recommend it.

    Hey guys,

Well I camped out from 48 hours (and it was cold here in Colorado, about 15F at night) to get the PS3 it is really nice but the games don't look good as the 360 yet. Though blu-ray is awesome. Right now I'm playing Gears of War on the 360, that has got to be the nicest looking game ever.

The Wii just does not do it for me oh well.

See, that was my attitude. I would have minded waiting for second shipment or something, I just figured it'd be a fun, different experience and I'd invite a few friends along to have a good time.

I originally went with 1 friend and my little brother, but after making a routine call I ended up having 3 friends and my brother in line. One friend didn't even buy. lol

Boo yah! lol My little brother has ours set up currently. I don't remember what it was called, but my favorite game involved going around and shooting at polygons in a 3d environment. AWESOME! lol

Any other Dreamcast fans in here? My friend and I always rock out on our DCs with some Ikaruga and stuff.

Yoshi's Island is one of my all-time favorites. A version came out for the DS recently, but I'm gonna wait a "while" before getting it. Between Galactic Civilizations II and all of my WII stuff, and Elite Beat Agents for the DS (sooo addicting) I'm set in the gaming department.

That's one of my turn ons to the Wii. All of the consoles have their own cool stuff, but the Wii has completely different gaming due to the whole movement sensors stuff.

Congrats on being able to get another controller, that's a feat! lol The CC I was at had ~19 nuncucks, ~5 classic controllers, and I don't think they had any extra Wiimotes.

My little brother got Trauma center. Surgery with three dimensional movement sensors... AWESOME.

Ok, now to start playing! (Just got home from school. )
