Hey guys and gals, I have an issue

There seems to be a hair under my LCD screen and it is driving me nuts, compressed air moved it a little but not much. HP toll free gave me nothing but an Islamic man that couldn't speak a lick of English, and all but done pissed me off. Any suggestions to what I can do to get this hair out from under my screen? I thought LCD's were supposed to be SEALED units.

Funny, that really shouldn't be. As far as I know there shouldn't be any way for a hair to get in there. And you said it's really IN there, not just stuck between the frame and the screen? I can't imagine it being anywhere else, especially not since you said you moved it with compressed air.

Any chance for elaboration or a picture?

Check you'r warranty, send it back. If they can't do that maybe a trained TV person can fix it.

Strange indeed. I think Est is right; there shouldn't be any way for a hair to get into the screen, unless maybe it was manufactured that way.
Good luck getting support from HP. I've had nothing but trouble from them, with every product of theirs I've ever owned.

I don't think they should be opened, period. So there being a hair somewhere actually UNDER the screen is beyond bizarre. Either it was there when you got it, or it's not a hair, or you have a valuable piece of machinery that has the ability to teleport objects in which case you should sell it to Ripley's Believe it or Not ASAP. lol

Frankly, the moving it with compressed air statement still befuddles me. If it is in fact just caught between the screen and the frame, then go at it with the bristles of a toothbrush or tweezers, being careful not to poke the screen in any case.

It's always possible that it's some sort of artifact that just resembles a hair (somehow sounds familiar to me.)

HP was no help at all, they wanted to sell me a cleaning kit...ha....ha. Its now moved into the top 1/3 half of my screen...looking at it right now actually lol. Any ideas on what to do? I really don't want to buy another LCD especially since I've only had this since August and it supposedly has a 1 year warranty on it. Then they say my warranty is expired...go figure. I'm ready to smash the dang thing.

Who is the warrantee with? If it's with HP then I don't think they really have a choice but to take it back, so long as you have proof of purchase dated in August. If I were you I'd try to track down a domestic HP office, call them directly, and not stop complaining until I'm talking to someone personally responsible for dealing with warrantee claims.

Where did you buy? Was it from a retail store? If so you can try to talk to them about it, sometimes they will allow you to swap it out under warranty, or if you raise a big enough fuss they will usually allow you to change it out anyways.

Or if you decide to deal with HP it helps alot if you take down names and dates of every person you talked to and when you talked to them. If you raise a big enough fuss they will usually transfer you from Bombay back to the states, just try to do it during normal business hours so they cant try the excuse of their states facilities being closed.
