Very nice. Some kind of gypsum for the first one? At first, I couldn't see the pics (same problem I have with JLAP). But I changed my porn protection filter...

My chicken legs taste like chicken--only less meaty.

Thank you Nep AK...I love looking at crystal photos.

That is selenite...a form of gypsum. Its sometimes called sand selenite (or hourglass selenite) as sand is trapped in the crystal usually in dry climes. I have a number of those crystals...some twinned as in your first photo. They can be found in that form in Oklahoma, Texas and a few other states. I have an Oklahoma specimen. Selenite/gypsum takes many forms including the form called "desert rose" that looks like a white or pink flower. Other times its just a clear crystal.

I also have several specimens from Arizona that were dug by a member in our Rock Club. He said they were down in the sand and that there were so many, the sand crunched as he walked as crystals were being crushed in the sand. He just took a shovel and dug up tons of them. That's a pretty easy dig for a rock specimen. I would LOVE to do that.

Thanks for posting the pic. One day I'd like to post some mineral photos and show off some beauties. One is in my avatar...a fantastic cube of fluorite from Ft. Wayne Indiana.

Ooops...almost forgot! Congratulations on winning the photo contest! That's great.

Congrats on the contest win. Any chance we can see the winning photos? Or are they not digital?
