So.. for a few months I've had my eyes on some digital cameras and I think I'm just about ready to buy one.. I've narrowed it down to two.. one of them is open box which kinda worries me but it's also cheaper... and the one that isn't open box comes with a free 1GB card... so I decided to get a professional opinion since I know there's quite a few here.

The main thing I've been looking for is a decent macro camera. As you would have guessed.. I mostly want it just to take GOOD pictures of my plants. :p

So here are the combatants:

Personally I would go with the DMC-FZ7K. The link you show is a used model, but even a new one has a reasonable (under $300) pricetag. The reviews I read on it are all positive.

The other camera you list has no manual focus mode which is something that you will probably want if you plan on doing a lot of macro shots. That alone would make me pass on that one.

I just ran a search and you can order that DMC-F27K model brand new, from Walmart online for $270 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...ct_id=5367845&sourceid=1500000000000003129160

Ahh, I didn't notice the no manual focus, definately knocks that one out of my choices. So I guess it's settled then, I'll go with the Panasonic DMC-FZ7K.

I actually found a new one that comes with a card for $285.99 so I'm thinking I'll get that one. Now I just have to decide when I want to spend that much money. :p

I love having money but I hate spending large amounts of it at one time. x_x
