The NECPS Show is a REALLY great time. One of the best things is that you never know what will turn up for sale at the NECPS Society sale table - especially from Dr. Matt of UCONN.
The plants people bring are just AMAZING. Like things you have only seen in books like Dr. Matt's Roridulas, Schloaty and Dave S.'s Neps, Jeffs Cephalotus's are to just drool over (mine are lookin' sooo scrappy this year), and Quoque's D. regia "Big Easy" which had the biggest dew drops you have ever seen - we didn't even think it was real last year.
Then for members........ there is the brutal backroom silent auction action. Sometimes Tony Paroubek and/or Mike and Richard (from that CP place in Massachussetts) donate items for that craziness. Dr. Matt sometimes donates a Roridula or two for the backroom auction too.
At past shows, we have all gone out to eat Saturday night for a raucous good time.
For people coming to the show with kids, Roger Williams Park also has a small zoo, carousel, and paddle boats (not sure if the paddle boats will be open). The Federal Hill area of Providence has some of the BEST Italian food found anywhere. For those folks coming from far away and not familiar with New England - about an hour drive from the show, in Connecticut, are the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos - two of the largest in the world with excellent restaurants and nightlife (www.foxwoods.com, mohegansun.com).
I can't wait 'til the show!! It will be great to see old friends and new faces, get into some bidding war action, and enjoy all the plants and CP comraderie. Until then, I'm pushing some intense CG animation deadlines and lots of late nighters...
OZZY - It will be awesome to finally meet you in person!!
