And if Adam doesn't, we all know that I will. I'm all for healthy debate and commentary, especially around politics. Let's educate each other and leave the personal comments aside. Let's play nice in the sandbox.

I am going to be honest, based on what a couple people have already posted I am seriously considering deleting it anyways.

Personally I am offended by the racist comments, the sexist comments and the flagrant hate comments posted in here. AFAIC this thread should be gone.

I counted 12 comments on the first page alone that I view as sexist or racist. Perhaps it is my egalitarian upbringing that makes me view it as such but I am highly offended but what I have read from some of the people here. Not all the people who have posted, mind you, just a few. But that does not change the fact that it is inappropriate.

While this may be an open forum it still has rules and one of them is to not be blatantly offensive. Some of these posts are just that.

one thing to think of about the price per gallon of gas............................the cost of gas didnt move a whole lot for 20 years. i know up here anyway the cost of drilling a well between the equipment, the legal fees verytime a new well is drilled in the county they have to run a legal notice in out paper, that costs money, getting the permits cost money, making the equipment met OSHA regs takes money..... that wasnt needed 30 years ago, my brother works in the oil fields and cant believe how physically UNDEMANDING its gotten in the last 10 years due to all the new equipment and such required by OSHA.....not to mention all the descrimination and sexual harrassment lawsuits.............you wouldnt beleive it but the oil fields used to be about the same as the average highschool locker room as far as language jokes and teasing.....cant do thatnow, someone gets offended and sued....gotta love our sue happy culture..........anyways when all is said and done up here it costs about $1 million to punch a new hole before you even start pulling oil out of the ground.....in places like the north slope of Alaska im sure its double that atleast due to all the infrastructure thats needed for the workers........

also you should know your lovely congress men and women are looking to raise taxes on the oil companies........think about this for a minute........say the feds decide to tax Andrew an extra $.75 per plant he sells what is Andrew going to do? take less profit? no he is going to raise costs on the consumer end to insure profits just like any buisness.......the house has passed it, im hoping like hell the senate kills it or we will definatly have $4 gas by summer.................i dont agree with all the tax cuts and handouts the oil companies get, they should be able to stand on their own two feet just fine but raising taxes on them is only going to raise the cost of gas at the pump

Petroleum costs as much as it does because people will buy a lot of it at a high price and, given the problems petroleum guzzling causes, the price isn't high enough yet. But the current taxes don't even cover the costs of roads, highway patrols, etc., let alone begin to cover the costs of oil defense, environmental degradation, social damage and other less-direct costs. Right now, we've got a socialist system where everyone shares the cost, even if they never buy even a gallon of gas. I don't mind everyone sharing the cost for a public good, such as a park, but gasoline is a product whose price should be equal to its cost. And, to aim back at the original topic, Hillary is **** Cheney in a dress.

What racisim?! I saw NONE!! In fact race wasnt mentioned!! Theres a huge difference between RACE and RELIGION. Point in fact I'm WHITE and BUDDHIST. Callin me a "cracker" IS racist. We're not callin the terrorists "towel heads" or anything. There was no racism. Maybe a lil sexism i'll grant, but no racism.

I'm really hopin she DIDNT make it...I know she wont quit til she is outta the race but still... I'm scared that she will be my Commander In Chief... Iran scares me too...Hope Bush doesnt start anything over there... (BTW race wasnt in this post)
Quite frankly I'm worried about the RTB (right to bear arms). It says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" and what are they doin? INFRINGING!! I'm gonna keep all my weapons. They are vital to my home training and I love the versatility of hand to hand combat weapons.

Man we spend 30,000 dollars to keep inmates happy! They get cable weights etc. PUT EM TO WORK!! Hell if we're gonna pay 30 grand per inmate i want something in return!!

You could just edit instead of posting four replies in a row.

As far as FOS, no one will call you racist unless you say something racist. It's really that simple. So no, I'm not afraid to say what I want, because I don't have racist thoughts.

I don't believe inmates should get any luxuries of any kind, but I don't think we should make them work for nothing. That's pretty much slavery.

Taken straight from the "forum rules" post on this forum which everyone is required to read.

TerraForums is a privately held entity and its owner and agents (Moderators) retain the right to edit or remove any "speech" deemed harmful to the community at large. Your speech is restricted to good decent human behavior. Racial bigotry, slanderous or hurtful comments, insults, pornography, sexually suggestive material, and FIGHTING will NOT be tolerated. Anyone who does not agree with this policy should probably not participate in this Discussion Forum. All actions taken here are taken with the best interests of the community AS A WHOLE. While we would like to please everyone, we probably can’t. While some may call this “censorship,” we call it doing our best to manage a community of over 2,000 unique and diverse members in peace and harmony.

So yes, your freedom of speech is limited here. If you do not like that... No one is forcing you to be on this board. You are here by a choice and you are asked to follow the rules. It is really quite simple.

Or to put it another way; You are free to say whatever you want. You just better be ready to accept the consequences of your actions. Break the rules and there will be repercussions.

yah dont seem to understand the freedom of speech................this here is a private website paid for by a single individual.....the Constitution does not apply here..............for all intents and purposes this place is a dictatorship....a benevolent dictatorship but one none the less........Andrew and those he choses as mods have every right to limit what you say......if one of them decided they dont like the word "hello" and Andrew says ok.....you can be banned for using the word..........the Constitution just says that the government, be it federal, state or local, can not prevent people from speaking out, especially against the government. however with this freedom comes responsibility.......yelling fire in a crowded theatre or spreading lies about a person you know are untrue can come back to bite you in the rear. yes it is your right to say such things, but any damage caused by it falls on your shoulders.

as far as semi heavily moderated sights go this one is pretty good. the line is well known and the mods and owner tend to give ppl multiple chances. some ppl tend to forget that this is in all reality a private site and instead think it is their god given right to post here......to those ppl, life is going to be hard on you once you get out of your parents house.....the real world tends to be harsh

i pretty much agree with yah.................not sure that Hillary is Cheney in a dress.....but there are simularities......Cheney might have the edge in the looks department...........one thing $4 a gallon gas will do is make it profitable to explore alternative sources.......good old American capitalism should kick in. look at ethonal.......its made leaps and bounds technology wise in the last 5 years......would not have happened with gas at $.99 a gallon like it was in the mid 90's.......while im not comfortable where ethonal is at right now, the whole plowing under food to grow fuel scares the hell out of me, but i do like the direction it is headed...........another few years and someone somewhere will find a way to make it fairly cheap out of cellulose instead of simple sugar and we will be set.......but this wont happen with gass at under $2 a gallon.......the heating oil costing tons and the recent power outages and such have made ppl start thinking, maybe nuculer power aint a bad i dea after all.......for teh first time in 20 some years there are over 20 nuculer power plants going through the approvement process......as much as i dislike Bush that is one thing in the 8 years he has done right..............

I think its entirely possible to discuss all manner of controversial subjects here but the key is word choice. There are ways to express your beliefs and make your arguments without offending people or being rude. And sometimes, some thoughts are better left unsaid.

If you are making a joke about something, make it clear its a joke and that its in good taste and not insensitive. Tolerance mixed with some sense of humor will go a long ways to having a lively, but sensitive, discussion.

Quite frankly I don't understand why race or gender has been such a big deal in this race. Yes, its historic and I'm glad to see this diversity. But still...it comes down to who you think will do the best (or the "least worst") job. The US is long behind other countries who have had female leaders.
