Possible Poaching Alert

This message was just posted to the CP listserv.

Several plant nurseries in western North Carolina were recently approached
by a man selling one gallon pots of pitcher plants. The price was $10 per
gallon. He stated, he dug the plants from his grandmothers property in Georgia.

I found the information to be very disturbing since he had a truck load of
plants for sale and the distance he would have traveled.

Has there been any unusual activity in the southeastern states, public or
private.

That's too bad. Did the nurseries not call any sort of authorities?

I don't know, that's all the info I have on this.

I'll have to log into my email account with the CP listserve messages and follow the responses to this in the coming weeks.

I'm sure you're both aware, but if it really was his grandmother's property, and she gave permission, then it's not poaching. I'm not saying I agree with the guy, and it sucks, but there's absolutely nothing that can be done....

I know the laws about poaching. But I'm not convinced he's telling the truth.
