    Rockingham Arca Race

If you don't like racing then there is nothing for you here. LOL

On Sunday I went to the first ARCA race at the old Rockingham track. NASCAR made such a huge mistake by getting rid of it. It's an amazing track. I use to go to this track back when Nascar had races here. I saw some of the legends race at this track, including Dale Earnhart, Dale Waltrip, Rusty Wallace, ect.

This was the first race at the Rock since Nascar took the races away.
The first change for the track I noticed was the grandstands on the backstretch had been torn down. The second is the name of the track is no longer North Carolina Speedway. It's not just Rockingham. That's what everybody called it anyway.

You can still see the old letters.

From left to right is Greg Zipidelli, I think one of the Allison's, a NFL player, The guy known as the words strongest redneck, and from American Idol, Josh Gracian.

    This guy is Mike Harmon.

You may not know him, but he was in one of the most amazing wrecks of alltime.
The car was split in half and he just stood up from the wreckage. Here's the video of it.

This is a blurry pic of Ken Schrader.

This is one of my favorite drivers, Chad McCumbee. I was hoping he would win, but he finished sixth.

The next guy is Joey Logano. You may have never heard of him but you will. He's going to be the next big name in Nascar. He's only 17 years old. This was his first ever start in the Arca series. He lapped the whole field except for one car. He was unbelievable. He's going to make his first Nationwide start later this year.

Here's the redneck guy. I had an isle seat and all of the celebrities walked by less than a foot from me.

    Tony Stewart climbing the flagstand.

The flyover during the National Anthem.

Tony Stewart waving the green flag.

My attempt at trying to get a pic of a car going by at 150 mph.

    First casualty of the Rock.

I got more videos, including one of Tony Stewart walking by, but for some reason Youtube don't like them. If I can get them up, I'll post them.

Yeah, I didn't know there was a Dale Waltrip either That track looks great, too bad Nascar doesn't race there. Sounds like Joey Logano is going to be a great driver. I'll look for him in the Nationwide series. Jeff has told me about that big crash but this was my first time seeing it! That was truly a miracle! Thanks for sharing, 0zzy

Yeah...I only caught the end of the race and spent the whole time trying to see you in the stands. lol But it does sound like that kid will do well. 17 and winning races.

That wreck was amazing. I wonder how many times he's thanked his lucky stars to be alive.

    Cool pics.

I will be in Charlotte memorial day weekend for the Auto parts 300 on Sat and the Coca Cola 600 on Sunday! If you have never been to a race it is a must go to even at least once! It is AWESOME! You do need earplugs or a sound muffling scanner or you will go deaf, but it is great!

I have never been to the Rock, but I have been to Darlington, Atlanta (Was there for the closest race in History) and Lowes.

Yeah that crash was scary. I have never seen a car fly apart like that. Even when rolling down the track i have never seen the role cage fly apart like that. That was a miricle he survived that wreck. Heck Dales crash didn't appear to be that bad and look at what happened to him.

Hey, While you're in NC, head towards the coast and I can show you some cp's. It'll be worth the trip.

Lowes is a great place to see a race, I was there when the bridge collapsed and all those people got hurt. I've also been to Darlington, Myrtle Beach and of course Rockingham. All 3 of those are great tracks. The Darlington race is tonight, it's going to be one of the most exciting races in years there, they just repaved it and they are having record breaking speeds. They are even reproaching 200mph which is unheard of at Darlington.
