When it is larger I am going to periodically slice off the growing tip becuase it contains a hormone which suppresses basal growth and hopefully I can get the cutting to strike, if not I can always seperate the basals after they reach a certain size.

If you want basals, just lay the plant horizontally. Seriously.

I thought that encouraged lateral offshoots, which I would have to slice off and root like cuttings, basals develop their own roots as they grow.
Does laying the vine sideways encourage basal production as well?

Sorry yours burnt out. If I had some LFS I could repot them and send you some as I do believe there are multiple plants in the pot.
