Um, again the petco I go to is selling healthy not sick animals, and intern getting my money for it, pet smart is a horrible neglecter and is not getting my money, the store getting my money will continue caring for the animals properly while the other store will either stop selling them or try and take better care of them. So I am not supporting a store of the same chain doing horrible things to animals because they aren't getting the money and might go bankrupt, or change to be more like the successful one that takes good care of their animals. Really, if one store isn't taking good care of their animal, that doesn't mean you can't support the store of the same chain that is doing well without supporting the bad care habits.

I would always try to get a rescued animal over a store bought.

Here's some available not too far from you.

Of course you refine the search to see if there are some closer to you.

For example rats live in places that we see as gross or disgusting and get flees, but that is if the are in the dumpsters or something
Most animals are pretty clean in the wild. They only tend to live in filthy conditions only when man creates interferes with them. If you give a easy food source then animals will go tend to live where the easy to get food is, like the dumpsters. Man is spreading the disease, the rats are just the carriers.

Even pigs are clean animals in the wild.

My pal Andy was a rodent collector, he had rats, mice, hamsters, you name it. He had a HUGE fat, one eyed rat named "Doggie" that was probably bigger and heavier than a chihuaha (taco bell dog). It was so nasty - like a living prop from the movie Willard or something!
Whenever I played with Doggie I swore he was gonna pop in my hands!

Anyway, tame rats are nice pets but I like cats more. Come to think of it, my cats would probably like a rat...

    J/K!

I not sure but, I think those are all north of me aka over 30 min. away. I do know where boston is though and now why are my parents are gonna go to boston to look for a rat! Thanks for the help to, I am gonna wait until my birthday though because I don't see how my mom will break with out something like "I can pay for it all" will get her. Also if I pay for it can she rightfully give it to a petstore just because she doesn't like them?

Well, she is your mom and that's why you have to make sure she is completely ok with this before you get them. But I do understand that she said you could get mice and then she still gave them away. But like I said, mice smell way worse than rats do. So if it was a smell issue, as long as you clean the rats every week, there shouldn't be a problem Good luck and let us know when you get your rat(s)

Ant, I don't know exactly where you live, I just put in Boston just to show you that there are rescue rats near you. Put in your zip code and it will give you closer animals.
