Obregon is on the dot. Don't expect the 100+ egges in the ooth. Since you caught her as an adult, she likely has already mated. So expect the ooth to hatch. Feed her any reasonably-sized insects you can catch out side.

I think I found the genus (found in Southeast Asia):
Tropidomantis (Eomantis) sp. (female on the left, male on the right)

    Good luck.

    Thanks, Joosa.

    Found the species name...Tropidomantis tenera.

I have a thing for the scientific names. Must know it. Must learn to pronounce it. Must research on it.

By the way, am I to worry? She has parked herself next to her egg sac for more than 12 hours already. There is a tiny moth inside the container but she is totally not interested.

No, she is just guarding the ootheca. If you are worried, you can just take her away from it. That might coax her to lay another ooth too!

I noticed that she has since moved away and the tiny moth in the container has disappeared! I popped another winged ant in and she was real quick to get to it. Seems that she is back to munching.

Will she starve if she is not fed for a week?

    Hi Cindy!

I just got into the mantid hobby last year. There's LOTS of great mantis info here:
