Preview of Vice-Presidential Debate

She was ambushed! Everyone else knows that, as a journalist, Katie Couric is a pretty perky ex-cheerleader. But the McCain-Palin campaign tells us she's a heartless tiger. Palin never had a chance against an adversary like Katie, although she's ready to take on the problems of the world. The real problem, of course, was all the prepping about what to say and what not to say. She was just following her orders and maybe didn't practice her lines well enough. She would have been much more at ease if she could have spoken from the heart, but a lot of the US public would have been horrified about her views.

Maybe the vice-presidential debate should be advertised as a comedy.

It's hard to decide who is funnier, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, or Sarah Palin as Sarah Palin.

The long presidential campaign might be tiresome to the public, but it reveals the results of decisions made by the candidates. It seemed at first that McCain's choice of Sarah Palin was inspired, but now even right winger Kathleen Parker of the right wing propaganda machine known as the National Review is calling for Palin to withdraw. If that happens, McCain should consider Paris Hilton as his running mate. She's just as famous as Barak Obama, and she has seen more foreign countries than Sarah Palin.

I can't wait. I'm gonna pop some pop corn and watch Biden beat Palin just like Farrah Faucet in "The Burning Bed".

Wow, I feel bad for laughing about that. Which one is Farrah; Palin or Biden? Seems like the Reps are taking a beating, but after the last few weeks of campaigning maybe this debate will be the bed.

I must admit that Palin did better than expected. But so did Biden, and his bar was a lot higher than Palin's. Now on to the rest of the presidential debates and domestic issues, where Obama's positions benefit the common person much more than McCain's positions, especially in areas such as health care, education, and taxes.

Would it be safe to say that you believe you are entitled to free health care, college tuition and taxes? If so why? Why are you entitled to this? What have you done to earn this entitlement? Explain to me how Obama's policies are nothing but socialist ideals, that rob Americans who put in the hours at work and school? Why should I have to pay tax money to fund YOU? Compassion? It's not the Government's job to be a tithing basket, give and support your local church. The government has no business deciding what kind of health care plan is right for me. The government has no business redistributing my income based on what I earn. The government is to serve me, not the leeches who abuse it.

The health care system is broke and it needs to be fixed. We left it up to the doctors, insurance companies and drug companies. All they did was robbed the American people and filled their pockets. We need to do something so that every American can get affordable health insurance. We tried the free enterprise system and all it did was to make drug and insurance companies rich. Obama's plan is way better than McCains.

Outsiders71: Which if the following do you want to eliminate? Roads and highways built by government. Social Security. Public parks. County hospitals. Public elementary and secondary schools. State universities and colleges. If you want any of them to remain, you believe in at least some degree of socialism.

Don't forget law enforcement, fire protection, the military . . . they're socialist too.

Comparison fail. None of those can be viewed as entitlements besides maybe Social Security and County Hospitals. If it were up to me, I'd get rid of Social Security completely and have the government write everyone a check for what they've been taxed for. I believe the average American is capable of putting away their own money and doesn't need the Gov't to do it for them.

Free health care = Entitlement
Free College Tuition = Entitlement
Income Redistribution = Socialism

So lets just be blunt and to the point here. A vote for Obama is a vote for entitlements and socialism. Where can you find entitlements and the government taking care of you from cradle to grave in the American dream?

1) Show me a diagnosis by a M.D. that says Bush is retarded.

2) Bush can not run for a 3rd term. In America, the President is only allowed to run for a max of 2 terms.

3) Bush isn't even on the ballot.

Bush got us in a war for no other reason than revenge.
Bush killed thousands of Americans.
Bush killed tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands non Americans.
Bush let the people that killed 4000 Americans go free.
Bush has almost bankrupted our country.
I consider anybody that would do even half of these things severely retarded.

Almost all of McCains policies are identical to Bush's.
So a vote for McCain is a vote for four more years of what we just had 8 years of.

Speculation/Conspiracy Theory

Bush killed thousands of Americans.

A ludicrous and false statement.

Bush killed tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands non Americans.

Another distorted and warped statement.

Bush let the people that killed 4000 Americans go free.

More like the people that killed 4,000 Americans went into hiding in caves and other bordering countries.

Bush has almost bankrupted our country.

Importing $700 Billion dollars of foreign oil has done more to bankrupt our economy.

I consider anybody that would do even half of these things severely retarded.

Your opinion is based on spite, hatred and emotion and not reason.

Almost all of McCains policies are identical to Bush's.

Explain why his voting record is less with Bush, while Obama's is 96% with his party. Also it isn't news that McCain and Bush have had it out in regards to policies, especially with Iraq. Your attempt to tie McCain to Bush is nothing but groundless Obama propaganda.

So a vote for McCain is a vote for four more years of what we just had 8 years of.

Maybe if you believe that 1) McCain and Bush agree on every issue, which is flat out wrong and 2) You believe the President has a magic wand and can make everything better. Bush was dealt with a lot in his 8 years, and people like yourself forget what this country has been through. He made it his mission to keep this country from another attack, and has succeeded. Sure he failed in many regards domestically, including getting this country independent from foreign oil and the way the war was handled. However if you believe that this country is in the state that we are in soley because of Bush and Iraq, you are naive. Our economic problems have been long-waiting. It was only a matter of time before the supply and demand of oil got out of control. It was only a matter of time before the mortgage crisis occurred, which can be tracked back to Jimmy Carter, who made banks become relaxed on giving out loans.

1. oh, so you are saying that he went to war for no reason then?

2. oh, so you are saying that even if he hadn't waited 2 weeks to go to New Orleans no one would have been saved? or that he hasn't sent Americans to war costing them their lives.

3. so you are saying he hasn't been killing citizens in irac?

4. still let them go

5. instead of founding are war going nowhere, gore would have spent money on environmentally friendly energy that doesn't require fossil fuel

6. so you think a smart person would do all those things? you a blind sighted if you think bush helped us more then hurt us. retarded isn't the right word, but I think he is extremely stupid.

either way i don't really care who wins both suck but, you can't say bush was a good president as 80% of the U.S. population thinks he is a horrible president. Also why the hell do republicans assume that the soldiers in Irac don't want to surrender and come home? Rattler don't dare bring up a video, it is easy to find 1 who supports the republican parter, but have they taken a mass vote? All I have seen supporting them was a bunch of veterans and stuff who aren't THERE.

Since McCain has dubbed himself as the agent of change, I wonder if the McCain supporters would cite the major differences between McCain's positions and Bush's policies on important issues such as Iraq and the economy.

Outsiders71, You are opposed to entitlements, so you oppose Social Security. Apparently, you are not of an age to qualify for it or close to it, as I have not met anyone receiving Social Security benefits who opposes it. These people are glad they contributed to Social Security so that they could receive its benefits. Many people survive on Social Security benefits, and without it they would be destitute and homeless. You say you are also against socialism. So should government stop building and maintaining roads and highways, parks, hospitals, elementary and secondary schools, universities and colleges?

You are correct they contributed, which is why I said give them back every penny they put into the broken Social Security system and let them manage it. There are people receiving Social Security benefits who haven't put a dime in the system and some can't even speak one word of English.

You say you are also against socialism. So should government stop building and maintaining roads and highways, parks, hospitals, elementary and secondary schools, universities and colleges?

Tropics, none of those elements are Socialist.
