Anyone Ever Try Sponge Filters Or Foam Rubber?

I was wondering how effective sponge filters or foam padding would be for Mexican butterworts or sundews. Anybody have experience with it?

Is that like sponge rock/rockwool? I always thought sponge rock would be ideal for Neps.

I looked at that post from before (Larry), with you participating. I have no idea what sponge filters or foam padding is made out of. All I know is that it is porous and holds water.

Anyways, I procured some foam rubber at work and am going to cut them up into portions that fit the contours of 2" pots to see how they do with ping leaf cuttings. Maybe I'll try gemmae, if I can find any left.
