Congratulations. What kind of bike do you have and are there good places to ride? When my daughter was trying to learn to ride, she finally got tired of everybody's advice and went over to a neighbor's driveway and kept trying until she got it. Then she rode all over the neighborhood the rest of the evening.

Congratulations. If it makes you feel better, I'm older than you and I've never riden a two-wheeled bike in my life.

    congrats! bikes are cool!

I have been through four major bike phases in my life.
your basic small "kids bike" with training wheels..
then upgraded to a "BMX Bike" in the 70's..
then my beloved Huffy 12 speed when I was teenager in the 80's..
that bike took me everywhere..(until I got a drivers license!)

then for the last 20 years or so I have been riding a basic mountain bike..although I seldom ride it on "mountain bike" type trails..mostly on the Erie Canal trail and local "rail trails"..

lately I have been considering diving into two totally alien bike concepts..
building my own recumbent from junk bike pieces:

(yes, thats a home-made bike, built from old road bikes!)

And I would LOVE to own a high-wheel 1880's "ordinary"
here is a photo of me at a Buffalo, NY bike museum, just last Saturday!

(unfortunately they didnt have one I could actually test-ride..oh well)

I might look for one..someday..and join the wheelmen:

    of course, I also want a 1929 Ford Model A and a 1965 Mustang..

My mom had a 65 red hardtop, but she sold it before we moved to Virginia from Florida. Was a beautiful car.

I learned to drive in a 66 hardtop. I don't like Mustangs anymore, but I agree with you about the Model A. The author Farley Mowatt was right when he wrote that the Model A was the pinnacle of cars and that it's been downhill from there.

As for riding bikes, which is the topic of this here thread, I don't ride anymore because I don't like riding in traffic and live in a high traffic world now. But I walk ~30 miles per week to work and stores and so on.

its all about longboarding for me, but bikes are cool too. Nothing beats going downhill at insane speeds on a board...some of the down hill specialists go 60+ mph!

    Hey Scott,

How do you get on/off that thing lol?
