Hey, that's right! The best deal I've ever had is the BACPS raffles!

Usually 20 tickets for a few bucks, and guaranteed to win-- they keep pulling numbers until all the plants are gone. I once walked off with a hundred dollars worth of plants for twenty bucks worth of tickets.

I got 8 mature S flava cuprea f2 plants for $40(maybe $50 I can't remember exactly) last year through the NASC auction. They are all beautiful and many have much more red than your typical cuprea.

I got a decent sized clump (mature pitchers) of Heliamphora minor at the Montreal Botanical Garden, for 9$. That's the best deal I ever got on a Cp, i think...

Best Deal: Heliamphora tatei for the price of a raffle ticket:$1.00 - BACPS Meeting
Worst Deal: S. "Candlewax": $250 - Meadowview - was dug up by raccoons and ultimately didn't make it.

    Nepenthes Truncata for $9

It stopped growing for several months, but it's starting to put out it's first new leaf now.

Best monetary deal- I got a bunch of Sarrs and VFTs from my Wal-mart a couple years back for $.50-.75 apiece because it was the end of the year and they were "dying". I caught them about a week before they threw them out. I shoulda told them that I'd take 'em all for $10 so they wouldn't have a total loss on some of them. Oh well, next time.

Best Deal overall- Pyro sent me about 10 species/hybrids/cultivars of Pinguicula for absolutely nothing a few years back. Sadly I went through a spell where I wasn't much into my plants and I lost 3 species.

Worst Deal- Any plant that I have lost because of the vendor.

I have gone through quite a bit on plants... most of them are from trading or for free, but I have been known to spend a bunch on Neps. o.o

My greatest cheapskate accomplishment was/is my Sarracenia collection. I'd say at least 3/4 if not more of it was free, thanks to mainly cp-connection and Brokken, IIRC. I have also gotten a few free Neps, but nothing substancial as of yet.

The most I've ever paid for a plant was $70 for my Nepenthes hamata... it was already windowsill hardened, so I'd say that it's not much of a rip... I have gone through a bit of Darlingtonia (still messing up!), all of which have perished as of now.

(Once, I paid about $20 for shipping from one place for two small plants! They can believe that I'm not too happy about that. >.<)

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. I refuse to buy from anyone that sells plants with a hefty "shipping and handling" charge, hence making money from it. Of course, I bet it's necessary when selling tropicals and such during unfavorable times of the year to ship, but I only buy temperates. Charge me for what it's really going to cost you!
