Had to go rescue a friend this past weekend....

So this past weekend, my brother had stopped by to say hey and he soon got a call from a friend of his saying he was stuck on the back side of Mt. Lemmon... Luckily my brother had been to this particular spot before and so knew pretty much where he was. We took his Chevy 2500HD and my Dakota 4x4 (we off road safely and in pairs) Once we got there (where he definitely should NOT have been!) we managed to get Ron's truck turned around in order to hook up to their vehicle, but I had to back up the long hill to get back to the top of this trail. Here is what we saw once we got there and parked... (You really can't get an idea of the angle of this hill...)

Here is once we got the other vehicle back up to the top of this hill that they had been working for 4 hours to do.

Turns out, that vehicle is a front wheel drive 4banger...He should not have been even close to this spot. He destroyed a motor mount and banged up the bottom pretty well.

It's pretty nice up there too =)

On the way back out of the mountain, I slammed on my brakes as I saw this in the dirt road

a bit further down the road, this guy was hanging out in the middle

Here is a quick vid of me backing up the hill as my brother tows *cough* drags *cough* the other vehicle up the hill. Gives a little bit better perspective on the angle of this trail.

Sorry 'bout the pics, they were taken from my phone.

    Yay for braking for critters!
Especially for that nice Arizona Black Rattlesnake. It's a beaut!

Thanks for the spider ID. I think the snake is a Arizona black rattle snake. Wish I would have taken my real camera... I would have been able to get closer pics. But that's as close as I was going to get to either with my phone! For fun, here is a map using GPS coordinates of where we saved them from (green arrow). To get there, you need to drive north to Oracle and then back around the back of the mountains... Then through the trails to that location. Round trip was somewhere around 140 miles.

Not all of it was off road. When you look at the map above, assume I'm somewhere around where the two yellow lines intersect at the bottom left, then had to drive north to Oracle, then from there the rest was off road. I think it was like 3 hrs just to get there, the back side of mount lemmon is a one way road, although we were definitely making time.... And they most definitely would not have made it out, and where they were, I doubt anyone else would have driven by any time soon.
