Fantastic shots dude. You are terrific at photography. Great eye for the perfect shot. Amazing. Is this a prime macro lens? Beautiful magnification and DOF.
Thanks! I'm going to look into setting up a print shop on my DeviantArt account, or I could do hand signed posters.
I'm using a Zuiko 50mm macro lens on an Olympus E-5 body. I have no complaints about the setup at all. The funny thing is that I'm trained as a sculptor. Never taken a single photography class in my life.
We just found an odd hybrid in a local, unnamed bog that is definitely not native. It has leucophylla, purpurea, and either rubra or alabamensis in it. We haven't seen anything that looks quite like it, so it might be a new hybrid. It's sitting in my mini-bog right now. It's actually a very attractive plant. I'll post pics of it as soon as I can.
Asclepias rubra. A rare associate plant. They're usually always found with pitcher plants, or at least where they used to be. Red milkwort by Wire Man, on Flickr
Drosera intermedia in Surry Co. We're hoping to find the mother site soon. These were in a tire rut, and no where else. Q6171611 by Wire Man, on Flickr Q6171615 by Wire Man, on Flickr Q6171618 by Wire Man, on Flickr
Glad you like the photographs. Graham is doing a fantastic job of providing a photo-documentary of his summer internship. We have intern/volunteer applications on our web site at www.pitcherplant.org if you want to join our team.

And then we found this big girl! She's a red bellied turtle, which is not commonly seen due to its reclusive nature and limited range. We saw her crossing the road, stopped to grab her and save her from traffic, and she started to not just sprint, but gallop away. She stopped after she realized we were going to catch her. To give her an idea of her size, I'm 5'6" tall. Q6241840 by Wire Man, on Flickr
The flower spike of the Surry county D. intermedia. These plants are proving to be very different from the run of the mill intermedias. Tiny White Bloom by Wire Man, on Flickr
Toothache grass in flower. Awesome plant! If you chew enough flowers or seed your jaw will go numb and you start drooling uncontrollably. I want to try it with a horse. Q6291915 by Wire Man, on Flickr
Possibly the Bachmann's sparrow. Very rare bird. Q6291922 by Wire Man, on Flickr
Pine barrens tiger beetle. This is an S1 rare beetle in VA. This is also a new county record for the beetle! Q6291928 by Wire Man, on Flickr Quick Hunter by Wire Man, on Flickr Q6291939 by Wire Man, on Flickr
