Finally just brought out a bunch of Nepenthes from the indoor area to a more sunny outside location. Repotted the cold hardy ones a few weeks back and just repotted the neps before bringing them out...

Very nice plants. Your sibuyanensis x hamata is probably the largest I've seen, but it does leave me scratching my head a little wondering if it is truly sib x hammy. It doesn't seem to have any characteristics of hamata at all - at least to me.

It seems to look more like maxima x sibuyanensis. Other thoughts?

It certainly reminds me of a cross with N. talangensis.

Nice root system on that baby.

How much sun do you give your Nepenthes?

How much sun do you give your Nepenthes?
--I actually have a unique set up there which I'll post some pics explaining. To sum up, that area is over shadowed by a tall tree which I'm hoping will provide shade when the sun is at its highest. This would leave them getting direct sun in the morning and at sunset...

--Thanks for the comments guys. That root structure was quite the surprise when comparing it to much larger/older plants that I repotted...

Your plant gives the *most* evidence I've seen yet that sibXhamata is actually sibXtalangensis. It is quite the beauty!

Alright Exo so heres a pic from the deck. The tree blocks direct noonish sunlight from them. From that camera angle, roughly pointing directly behind them is east which would be as if they are sitting in a westerly window... Again this is a new location, and I'm hoping this will provide sufficient light...

You're going to be very happy with the Red Dragon. The one at Meadowview is very vigorous and the pitchers are about as red as anyone could ask for.

I'm very envious of your panther cham! Is that an alabamensis ssp. wherryi?

  • #16
Thanks, yeah based on their mom and pop he should turn out to be quite colorful....

Its actually apparently a "aereolata flame mouth x alabamensis" hybrid though the seeds were labeled OP so who knows...
