Hey everyone,

The local news decided to do a piece on one of the big projects that my lab is working on: The Marin Carbon Project. Since I've talked with a number of you about it in the past, and since it's a really cool project, I thought I'd share. You don't see my face, but I know and work with all of the people you see, and in all of the places they show. My hands are featured at 2:17, however. :p

The video gets at the general principle of the project, even if some of the explanations are a bit off. Would be happy to answer any questions. :)

Why don't you just pull the carbon out of the air and make diamonds from it? You'll be rich in no time!! ;-)

I should add, awesome project. Sounds a lot more reasonable then "everybody should drive electric cars."

Yeah it's a great project! Means I get to work out in the field, not just in lab all day, every day. ;) However, like Dr. Silver says in the video -- it's not a magic bullet. I agree with your sentiment, though. If we can manage our lands using practices that make us money and help the environment using simple techniques available today, not some technology that's X years from being researched, Y years from being produced, and Z years from being affordable... Sound like a good deal to me. :p
 
Wonderful Est. My Son has completed a lot of research into switch grass and its potentials. We all need to work toward this! Well Done!
 
Personally, I think they had a good thing going in Back To The Future - garbage!

Switch grass adds carbon into the soil as it grows.
