Brie's CP photo thread

You haven't been to Mexico if you're worried about burning them. I've been to Ping territory during the winter and still had to wear sunglasses. It's a very bright country.

They all look great Brie! But I agree with Favin and really like the P. cyclosecta shot. You don't happen to have and extra of this:).

lol no no no.. not BURNING them.. Im worried about them burning OUT.. Exhausting themselves and dieing, without a dormancy break.

Oh.... Yeah, that would be a bit more of a concern.

Keep me in mind:).

Thanks for the P. gypsicola closeup. They look great!

Looks like Brie's going to have 4 or 5 months of 2013 to her name.

The first and third pics look good for the calendar.

My first two tuberous dews ever.. I have them on a window sill in front of an open window, with a desk lamp aimed over them for some additional light. Day temps are no higher then 65ish, night temps, whatever it is outside for the most part.. 40s-50 degrees.

Your Drosera are stunning!
May I ask what temperatures and humidity you grow them in, and also how close to your lights?
Many thanks :)

Re: Dionaea 'B52' coloration

As a said before the "lipstick" coloring is nothing unusual, but I guess seeing has to be believing for some people. Indeed I recall a telephone conversation with David Conner in 2007 where he remarked on the "lipstick" coloration it often gets. David Conner has been growing this cultivar since it was first available from Hennings at the beginning of the 21st century.

Just curious what brought that all back up out of the blue?

So I finally got my new 6bulb Sunblaze fixture, and now have a third shelf going(although I ended up using the new fixture for the top shelf and moving the previous top light to the bottom). It will be used to grow the horde of sarracenia and dew seeds I have stratifying in the fridge.

My Eden Black F1 baby is doing swimmingly. I recently picked up some tiny tiny pipettes, which work perfectly for getting Maxsea into its wee little pitchers. Its gotten a few feedings of it now over the past couple months and started pumping out new pitchers like mad.. The latest is the biggest and not colored up yet. I definitely think this guy is gunna live up to its parent's standards. :)

your pygmies are inspiring :) i may have to start collecting those as well!

  • #597
That's a veritable FIELD of pygmies. If you fragged it and sold it, you would make like $200.
Someday I'll have me one of those.

  • #598
Good lord, nice pigmy farm you got going there, and that regia is awesome, :0o: So jealous of your eden black, haha.

  • #599
Looking fantastic Brie! Much has grown. I think the only thing I'm not fond of droseras is how weedy some of the hardier ones can get. I made the mistake of sprinkling 'some' seeds of D. indica on my pot of sarracenias, VFTs and adelae, and now, they've overtaken everything save the tall sarras. :0o:

"stellen bosch" locality.. One in front is falling behind in size.. it decided to send up basal plants instead of growing itself.
8193301963_34e8c184c0_b.jpg

"Baneskloof" that Mass gave me a year or so ago.. It has 2 little basal plants now.. which oddly enough you cant see in this pic, they're behind the trunk. The pot to the right is full of "Broadleaf" seedlings, from my main broadleaf plant..
8194393464_844cd80926_b.jpg

Remember my "Broadleaf" that had that epic flower stalk last year? Well it died down to roots after that.. And now looks like this..

Newest capes to the collection. Two "Big Pinks" from Josh Lynch. They came with awesome dark magenta/pink leaves, but I assume they were growing outside before coming here. Those have now been replaced with green leaves. So looks like i'll have to wait til next spring/summer to see that awesome color again.

Ok now for some others.. "Auyan Tepui" is also flowering.. And has some hitchikers...
