Brie's CP photo thread

Well, the first germination I think I noticed was right around the 2 week mark, may of been 3... so just keep watchin em.. How are you doing yours? Mine were bagged, inside a tank, at 90-100 degrees...

I have mine in my lowland terrarium on a shelf about 8" below the lights. I didn't bag them since the tank maintains about 90-100% humidity. Unfortunately I'm having trouble keeping the temps up (they're in the 80-85 range at best), so I just ordered a stronger heat cable for it. I've read that some petiolaris dews can germinate at temps as low as 60, so this shouldn't be a major factor, but this is my first attempt at growing them, so I'm clueless. If they do grow, I'll set up a dedicated terrarium for them where I can give them better light. I got D. petiolaris x paradoxa and D. broomensis x ordensis (or the reverse, I'd have to check), so theoretically these shouldn't be too difficult to grow compared to some of the others.

Another update! Took photos of some other random stuff today..

A peak into my heli/nep/misc terrarium that I try to keep cooler...

My Hummer's Giant ceph decided to die on me... it started to yellow, then went all crunchy brown.. So I figured maybe it wasnt getting enough humidity so close to the bulbs.. so I moved it to the heli/nep terrarium.. and low and behold, new growth..

I know right?!?! I just stuck a measuring tape up next to it to get a rough estimate.. from the top of the bend to the tip of the last flower its almost exactly 12".. So with all its twists and bends its prolly more like 14" from the bend.. of just flowers... :p Silly mutant thing...

That flower stalk is out of control. Like, it's friggin' ridiculous. Put an end to it. Put it out of its misery. It need not expend so much energy producing a bazillion gajillion new weeds wrapped up nice and neat. XD

On a more serious note, everything looks happy, except, y'know, the Ceph... which is on its way to greatness, and that's what counts, haha. The P. reticulata babies are entirely too cute.

Love your growspace as a whole. Nice and clean, melikes.

Everything looks sweet Brie! Quite jealous of your P. reticulata.

Lets hope you dont ever have to move you binata varieties anytime soon! What a sticky mess that would be.

Eric, I totally heard that in George Takei's voice. lol.

Drew, I could probably spare a couple come spring. ;)

You're stuff is looking completely terrific. And that capensis is absolutely terrifying! How big of a pot is that, six inches?! That truly might be cultivar worthy.

Also, love venusta, definitely a favorite dew of mine. Still never got my hands on one though.

Danke. :)

Yeah, its in a 6" pot.. thing is ginormous... I look foreward to seeing it in another year..

Well i'll likely have some venusta seed to give out, just keep an eye on the trade post.. i'll be keeping some to grow too so will have plants available eventually.. or I might be coaxed out of one of my adult plants if you have something cool to trade. ;)

I'm jealous of all your pings! They look great.

Just a few quick pics I snapped with my new macro lens...

D. capensis "BainesKloof" popping out some new leaves.. This guy definitely grows differently then normal capes.. Very stemmy, less bushy.. I should take a comparison of it next to a couple others..
