    Hawaiin Carnivorous Plant Vacation

I will be taking a vacation to Hawaii (unfortunately most likely during the ICPS conference) and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what would be good areas to see carnivores.
    I already know of:
    Kim Magnuson's
    Sam Estes's
    Mach Fukada's (Kulamauiman)
and Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens http://www.naainakai.org/gardens/boghouse.html

    Thanks for the suggestions!

It depends on which of the islands you are going to.

    Sam is on Hawaii
    Mach is on Maui
The botanical garden is on Kauai

You'll probably need inter-island flights and car rentals. Still being peak season car rentals might be tight or not in-expensive.

If you're going to Kaua'i you may as well try for the Alakai Swamp to see Drosera anglica. That will probably be an all day trip. The trail is 3.5 miles one way and rated difficult.
Grand Hotel... always the same. People come, people go. Nothing ever happens.

Oh yeah, duh. I forgot to mention it was a cruise to all the islands and I get a day on each and a family member that I will switch ever day so they dont get over annoyed with my plants

And if I buy anything I need it shipped as nothing live(except people) is allowed on the ship.

Well a "day" at port on a cruise usually means about 6 hours unless they are staying overnight. They like to be at sea at night so they can open the casinos. If the cruise is only stopping at Kona it's a 2.5-3 hour drive to Pahoa on the Hilo side of the island of Hawaii. If they stop at Hilo it's about a 30min - 1 hour drive.

Check the itinerary for ports and times.

normal port of call on Maui is Kahului. 30 mins or so to my place. Easy sell for people to head this way is Haleakala National Park just up the road a bit. Sam ships plants as of the last time i visited with him and I can do the same if they are my plants and not too huge . will not pack a huge N. 'miranda' for example but will pack rooted cuttings
